Andrés Dominguez Fernandez, a first-generation Mexican-American, is pursuing his BFA in ceramics and art education. His work is an effort navigating this identity. Andrés invites the audience to connect with his culture. He delves into history and current cultural context to showcase the struggles of his community, harmonize the past and present, and highlight the legacy he is a part of. This is achieved through the use of ceramics, found objects, and mixed media. He’s been featured in several exhibitions and spaces across Illinois as well as curating some of them. Neustra Gente was one such exhibition where he both curated and participated. This exhibition, featured on WMBD news station, celebrated Hispanic Heritage and brought together eight artists, during Hispanic Heritage month. His work can also be seen in Chicago's Insect Asylum’s gift shop. Each creation reflects his dedication to storytelling, cultural resonance, and a desire to inspire the importance to preserve our contemporary culture. Andrés stands to leave an impact on the art world, driven by a mission to connect and uplift his cultural experiences. He aspires to teach in higher education and advocate for underrepresented communities in his practice.

I curated an apartment art show in Northside Chicago centered around the art of printmaking, titled “Print Me Baby One More Time!”. The process of organizing and completing this show was a journey, but I’m thrilled with how everything came together! A heartfelt thank-you goes out to everyone who showed their love and support, and an even bigger thank-you to the incredibly talented artists I had the privilege of collaborating with.
What sets this show apart? If you explore the artist's background, you’ll see that they hail from various corners of Illinois, showcasing a diverse range of perspectives and styles. So, take a moment to check them out and support their amazing work!
