College Observations
Clinical Observation At Sheridan Elementary School
I was honored to take on clinical hours to observe the school of Sheridan Elementary school. I was paired up with the art teacher Mrs.Bussann who gave me greater tips and advice on how to be a future art educator. At Sheridan, I was able to assist Mrs.Bussann and even had the opportunity to teach the class on my last day. I learned a lot from Mrs.Bussian, from her attentiveness to children's safety and mental health and her compassion for her students overall.

Saturday classes (2nd and 7th grade)
Illinois State University held Saturday classes for five weekends. Within those 5 weekends, my peer educators worked on providing art lessons to the class. We understood that the students come from many different artistic backgrounds. Because of this, we accommodated to make sure that our lessons were challenging, conceptually, yet engaging. The 7th-grade class was taught about the concept of tradition. while the 2nd-grade class was taught about surrealism through the idea of a "dreamland."
HOIC- Highschoolers
Illinois State University hosted a day for high school students around the community to engage in the College of fine arts in workshops guided by art education students. I independently held two classes to cover my lesson on "perspectives and perceptions." The lesson was aimed at helping students think more conceptually than technically.
Normal Public Library
Illinois State University partnered up with the Normal Public Library to teach lessons created by our class for 3 weeks. Each lesson expanded on new media and new artists to learn about.
Camp counselor and tennis instructor
While this does not cover recorded clinical hours, I spend every summer as a tennis instructor for children and a camp counselor for ages 6-12 years old. I enjoy my time engaging with the children and expanding on my knowledge of education, and applying it to my experience within the 3 months I have with them. I create activities for them to engage in every day that helps them build connections but also grow intellectually. In both camps, I am responsible for the children's safety and well-being.
