Alexander Martin (pronouns they/them) is a multiracial black and queer artist and performer living and working in Peoria, Illinois (born in Hurricane, West Virginia). Their practice is a combination of mixed media work, found objects, performance, ritual, and education.
Description:
Alexander invited my class to visit their studio to talk about their current work and the processses they undergo when creating any body of work. Currently, Alexander is my mentor in the BFA program. We often discuss how to incorporate our own respective culture to our body of work and how it imapcts own own communities.
